How To Install And Use Apple’s “I’m Getting Pulled Over” Shortcut

The “I’m getting pulled over” Apple shortcut has been gaining momentum due to the recent police brutality incidents. The shortcut was created by, Reddit user, RobertAPeterson, and it was created to allow you to record what’s happening when the police pull you over.

 

The shortcut can be applied in other scenarios that involve capturing video evidence. It sends a message to a contact of your choosing and automatically begins video recording from the camera. You can activate the shortcut by simply saying “Hey Siri, I’m getting pulled over.”

 

To install the “I’m getting pulled over” shortcut, you need to;

 

— Install Apple’s Shortcut, you can install the shortcut by clicking here. The shortcut allows you to start Do Not Disturb on a timer or create a GIF with your camera. It can also act as a spelling checker for long pieces of text. Because the app is a third-party app, you’ll have to go to iPhone’s Settings, tap on Shortcuts and then Allow Untrusted Shortcuts.

 

— Add the “I’m getting pulled over” shortcut by clicking here. After opening the link, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap the red Add Untrusted Shortcut button.

— Then, pick a contact you want your location to be sent to in the event of you triggering the shortcut. The app will also send a copy of the video recording that will be taken.

 

— Grant the app all the necessary permissions by running a test. Click on the icon in the shortcut app to open the app or tell Siri “I’m getting pulled over”.

 

When you need the app, you can simply open it by holding the home button or hold down the side button on an iPhone with Face ID. The shortcut will pause your music, dim your screen, turn down the volume, activate Do Not Disturb, and then automatically send your location and a message to the contacts you selected during setup. The front camera will then start to automatically record.

 

To stop the recording, press the volume-up button or tap the stop button on your camera screen. You can then send the video to your selected contacts by tapping Use Video. You can also choose to upload the video to Dropbox, iCloud, or even choose not to upload the video.

 

The shortcut can also be used in multiple scenarios depending on need or danger. It will help you get a secret recording of your situation and help you pass your message across to your contact without letting the aggressor know.
